Wellstone Film Series Continues on Friday, Jan. 29 with "Trouble the Water"

While Carl Deal (a producer for Michael Moore) and his partner Tia Lessin are listed as directors, much of the footage was shot by Kimberly Roberts, the twenty-four-year-old resident who had just purchased a used video camera the day before.

Roger Ebert mentions in his review that Roberts’ footage is couched in professionally filmed material that deepens and explains what happened and that “Roberts needs more practice at holding the camera steady and framing shots. It doesn’t matter. We feel her footage at the base of our spines.” Peter Travers, reviewer for The Rolling Stone, describes the film as “a spellbinder you do not want to miss”; Ruthe Stein, writing for the San Francisco Chronicle, asks the question as to whether or not anything more can be said about this national catastrophe and answers herself: “Yes, definitely, as the engrossing documentary shows in just about every frame.” Please join us for this inspiring documentary on Friday, January 29th at 6:30 in the South Portland Community Center Teen Room. Also: please note that this is a Friday not a Thursday.
